Research and Teaching Interests

My research engages questions of policy and practice that impact the ways historically underrepresented students experience and access higher education. My most recent work is centered on the community college baccalaureate (CCB). One consistent and important theme surrounding the CCB is access; yet, there is limited research on the impact of these programs on the college and its students.  An additional focus I have developed in my research is the study of faculty work and careers. Ultimately, faculty working conditions and practices translate into the learning conditions of students. Finally, my abiding commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring has led me to engage in scholarly work related to graduate student socialization and development.
